Cele comments come after Health Minister Zweli Mkhize had said that citizens would be allowed to jog and take their dogs for a walk during the period.

However, the police minister has provided clarity on the matter and sternly warned that jogging and dog walking is strictly prohibited.

"There is no need to be on the road, there is no need to move around," Cele said.

"There shall be no dogs that shall be walked, the cluster met, discussed and we agreed that it doesn't enhance the call made by the president.

"If you want to walk your dog around the house, it ends there, it can't go beyond that."
