The IRP outlines South Africa’s electricity plan as indicated by the demand heading up to 2030.

According to Radebe, the complete plan will have detailed technical analysis on the country's total electricity requirements.

Radebe has assured the public he's not expecting demand for nuclear energy to increase in the next 12 years.

"There will be a study to determine if more nuclear is needed after 2030... but until then, there is no increase in nuclear generation envisaged," Radebe said.

Members of the public have 60 days to comment on the IRP.
