JOHANNESBURG - The Higher Education Department's says students who've passed should not be prevented from registering because of outstanding fees.

Challenges with student funding at universities have again been making headlines.

Thousands in the country have been protesting the financial exclusion of some learners.

Classes at Wits, Durban University of Technology, Vaal University of Technology and the University of KwaZulu-Natal have been disrupted over the past weeks.

Students were protesting over registration, historic debt, and accommodation among other issues.
