Nomvula Mokonyane withdraws as ANC MP

CAPE TOWN - The ANC has confirmed that Nomvula Mokonyane will be withdrawing as a Member of Parliament.

The outgoing Environmental Affairs Minister is the latest ANC member to step aside after receiving a nomination.

Malusi Gigaba and Baleka Mbete also withdrew on Tuesday.

The ANC appointed Mokonyane as the Chair of Chairs in Parliament but she has asked the party to reconsider.

Mokonyane is in mourning after her husband passed away earlier this year.

She indicated she would not be able to give the post the full commitment it deserves.
