MAHIKENG - North West Premier Job Mokgoro and his Public Works MEC Saliva Molapisi have tested positive for COVID-19 and gone into self-isolation.

The two officials will, however, continue to work from home.

The North West government says Mokgoro only has one symptom, which is a cough.

 

The news comes a day after North West Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs MEC Gordon Kegakilwe died from a COVID-19 related illness.

Kegakilwe was admitted to hospital with pneumonia on Sunday and suffered a heart attack a day later.

Meanwhile, the North West government has asked President Cyril Ramaphosa to declare Kegakilwe’s funeral as a Provincial Official Funeral Category 1, in line with Government’s Funerals Policy as well as the COVID-19 guidelines that regulate how funerals are conducted during the lockdown.
