JOHANNESBURG - The National Taxi Alliance has pulled out of the National Taxi Lekgotla scheduled for the end of October.
The alliance said the gathering is merely a ploy to give the South African National Taxi Council power over them.
It's also concerned about COVID-19 relief funds.
At a press briefing on Friday, the organisation called on Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula to release COVID-19 relief funds pledged for the industry.
It has given Mbalula 10 days to confirm when the funds will be released.
The NTA also claimed the government has not kept its promise to deliver PPE to operators and said it is concerned taxis might contribute to a second surge of COVID-19 infections.
