PRETORIA - Additional SANDF members have been deployed to help quell the chaos in KZN and Gauteng.

Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni's confirmed that 5,000 soldiers are on the ground.

Ntshavheni is urging South Africans to work hand in hand with law enforcement instead of taking the law into its own hands.

KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng have been gripped by violence and looting in the last few days with over 1,000 people arrested.
