NUM 'can't guarantee' members will vote for ANC

JOHANNESBURG - The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has said their votes are not secure for the governing party in the upcoming general elections. 

NUM General Secretary David Sipunzi said their members "are angry out there, the ANC is lying to us and we are being taken for a ride here”.

In a statement, NUM said they would like to advise the ANC to deceit from "taking peoples' votes for granted".

It said the decision by government to impose independent power producers on Eskom is going to cost the ANC dearly.

"In less than a decade -- after the full implementation of this IPPs policy -- access to electricity will be for the chosen few only," the statement read.

NUM also said there has been no consultation with them about Eskom's unbundling.
