Nyanda: The ANC risks losing power

Can the ANC still save itself? Well, it might be too late, that's the view of the former Chief of the South African National Defence Force and Minister of Communications, Siphiwe Nyanda. He says the renewal of the country and the party, will elude us, as long as the ANC fails to come to terms with the fact that much of the recent violence in the country arises from its own doing. JOHANNESBURG - The time for the ANC to save itself is running out, that's the view of former ANC NEC member Siphiwe Nyanda.

He says if the party fails to instill discipline in its ranks, renewal will be elusive.

"If there are divisions within the leadership itself, top leadership, some parts are pulling this way and that way, it impacts not only on the ANC but it also reflects on government, those divisions," he said.

"And then obviously anarchy is loosed upon, not just the African National Congress but upon the country."
