Nzimande: university safety is a big priority

DURBAN - Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande said student safety is a big priority following protests at the University of Zululand's kwaDlangezwa campus.

The university shut down after students took to the streets after the shooting of a student at an off-campus residence.

"Minister Cele spoke to me yesterday, he's going to the university to address the high level of crime in the area."

"I had a meeting with the executive committee representing the vice-chancellors last Friday, they need to talk to me what measures have they put in place to ensure campus safety."
