One person dies during Kagiso shutdown

Editor's note: This is a developing story.

JOHANNESBURG - One person has died during the Kagiso shutdown on Gauteng's West Rand on Thursday.

The area descended into chaos as hundreds of residents took to the streets to apprehend illegal miners.

Earlier, police dispersed community members who blocked roads.

Residents say the zama zamas are committing crimes and the police are doing nothing about it.

Over 100 alleged illegal miners have been arrested following the gang rapes in Krugersdorp last week.

Reporters Aviwe Mtila and Nqobile Madlala have more details in the video above.
