JOHANNESBURG - The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa) was formed to oppose the e-toll system.
On Monday in his State of the Province Address, Gauteng premier David Makhura said that e-tolls have no future in the province.
Outa's Transport Portfolio Manager, Rudie Heyneke, said the successive announcements on the cancellation of e-toll debt along with other factors indicate the scrapping of the system is on the way.
Heyneke said their fight to end e-tolls has been there since before the implementation of the system.
He stated the rising cost of collecting the debts on the e-tolls make collecting the money unprofitable.
"All the factors show us the end of e-tolls is imminent," Heyneke said.
