JOHANNESBURG - Over 27,000 healthcare workers in South Africa contracted COVID-19.
While over 16,000 have fully recovered, 240 of them succumbed to the virus.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize made the announcement on Thursday.
Over 6,000 workers were from the private sector while more than 21,000 from the public sector.
They include doctors, nurses, and others in the health sector.
