JOHANNESBURG - Over 300 matric exam markers have tested positive for COVID-19.
Most are believed to have arrived at testing centres already infected.
But, the Basic Education Department says this has not affected the marking schedule.
"As of today, a total of 315 have tested positive but 168 tested positive at the gate so they were not even allowed to enter the marking centre," said Public Examinations Director, Priscilla Ogunbanjo.
Earlier this month the Gauteng Department of Education confirmed that a 59-year-old marker died due to COVID-19 complications.
