JOHANNESBURG - Gun Owners South Africa is disputing Gun Safe Cities’ research on gun ownership in South Africa.

Gun Safe Cities says possessing a firearm is not a solution.

It says research shows that people are more likely to have their gun used against them than being able to use it for self-defence.

However, Gun Owners South Africa says crime is escalating, and perpetrators are becoming increasingly violent.

“There is no research, there is no background to it, Gun Safe Cities is a shill for the gun control lobby,” said chairman of Gun Owners South Africa Paul Oxley.

“They’re paid propagandists of foreign interests.”

Gosa says it promotes responsible gun ownership.
