Parliament fire | Nehawu demands answers

CAPE TOWN - The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union wants answers following the blaze that broke out on Sunday morning in Parliament.

When Nehawu received word of the fire, they immediately contacted their members to find out if they were safe.

The branch secretary of Nehawu in Parliament Temba Gubula says to their surprise, members were not at work, as they had been told not to work on public holidays and weekends.

This is because of budgetary constraints in terms of overtime and public holiday rates.
