Parliament rejects EFF assassination claims

CAPE TOWN - Parliament has rubbished the EFF's claims that parliament security officers were part of a plot to assassinate leader Julius Malema.

EFF MPs were seen on a video pushing police officers and slapping one other as they were exiting the National Assembly.

The party says it was responding after learning of an alleged security threat on the life of Malema.

Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said, "those are very serious allegations."

"You cannot on the basis of those suspicions have members of parliament who are assaulting the law enforcement officers in the manner in which this officer was assaulted.
