Pensioners demand increase to deal with high cost of living

CAPE TOWN - A group of pensioners from Pietermaritzburg is accusing the government of ignoring them.

They've decided to take matters into their own hands by travelling to Parliament to make a case about the high cost of living.

The gogos want the 13th cheque in December to make up for not getting a pension increase.

They gatecrashed a sitting of the standing committee on finance where MPs were discussing the mid-term budget delivered last week.

The group say they are buckling under the weight of their financial responsibilities and cannot make ends meet.

The pensioners have promised to keep coming back until they get what they want.
