JOHANNESBURG - National police commissioner Khehla Sitole on Monday reshuffled a number of top personnel within the South African Police Services (SAPS).

Former Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Khombinkosi Jula will be taking up the Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Commissioner post.

Jula held several positions in KwaZulu-Natal, including that of Human Resource Management's Deputy Provincial Commissioner.

Former KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will serve as the Operational Response Services (ORS) Divisional Commissioner.

Mkhwanazi occupied various positions under the police force including that of Head of Special Task Forces(STF).

Lastly, current Deputy Commissioner of Management Advisory Services, Sindile Mfazi, will temporarily serve as the acting Western Cape Provincial Commissioner.

A permanent commissioner is expected to be appointed before the end of August.

"I hold all these managers in high regard and I am sure that they will optimally guide those under their command to ensure a safer South Africa,” Sitole said.

All appointments will become effective from 1 August.
