Eskom will reduce blackouts to Stage 3 from Wednesday morning. The power utility's CEO Andre de Ruyter says this is because 2,000 MegaWatts will be added to the grid. Courtesy #DStv403
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter said power cuts will be downgraded to Stage 3 from 5am Wednesday morning until Friday at 5am.
The power utility said power cuts will then move to Stage 2 until Saturday.
De Ruyter said it's unlikely that the country will be plunged into more severe blackouts following the return of generation capacity at several power stations.
He once again appealed for people to use power sparingly.
