PPE tenders scrutinised for irregularities

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku says PPE contracts referred to in media reports were never carried out.

It is alleged the department awarded contracts valued at R125-million to Presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko's husband.

Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku said an audit was instituted as early as April to check that procurement of goods and services was being handled correctly.

"It's a matter that has been handled by our Gauteng accounting services and they've actually found we might need to start a process," Masuku said.

Masuku stated that the initial response that he received around the disputed contracts is that they were not carried out.
