DA, Public Protector meet over Ramaphosa's Bosasa links

DA leader Mmusi Maimane has met with Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane for an update on the party's complaint that President Cyril Ramaphosa misled parliament on Bosasa.

JOHANNESBURG - DA leader Mmusi Maimane has met with Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane for an update on the party's complaint that President Cyril Ramaphosa misled Parliament on Bosasa.

Backtracking from his initial reply during a Q&A session, Ramaphosa wrote to Parliament, saying that the Bosasa payment was actually a donation towards his ANC presidential campaign.

He claims it was made without his knowledge.

The DA insists Ramaphosa misled Parliament over this issue.

Mkhwebane's spokesperson Oupa Segwale said while the matter was anticipated to be concluded in February, new issues needing investigation have come to light and need scrutiny. 

The Public Protector will be looking into the president's relationship with Bosasa, not only whether he misled Parliament.
