JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has lauded all women who've contributed to making South Africa a better place in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
He penned his appreciation in his weekly newsletter.
The president's message comes as the world commemorates International Women's Day.
This year's theme is women's leadership and achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.

Ramaphosa has praised women on the frontline and those leading civil society organisations involved in finding solutions to the pandemic.
The president says there can be no meaningful progress if society continues to relegate women to 'traditional professions', while men continue to have all the decision-making powers.
Fittingly, the theme of this year’s #InternationalWomensDay is women’s leadership and achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world. Since the pandemic reached South Africa, the women of South Africa have played a pivotal role in the country’s response. https://t.co/Gxbz4N63mY pic.twitter.com/Ni4PRBrUdO— Cyril Ramaphosa #StaySafe (@CyrilRamaphosa) March 8, 2021
