JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced the appointment of an 18-member Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
It comprises of local and international economic thought leaders.
The council's main function will be to advise the president and government on economic policies to spur inclusive growth.
Efficient Group's chief economist Dawie Roodt said there is some uncertainty about the function of the group because economists often present differing opinions.
Roodt raised the issue that many voices would be present to develop advice for problems that are well-known.
He said strong leadership with a clear vision is needed to proceed further.
