Probe after Katlehong siblings die from alleged food poisoning

KATLEHONG - An independent team is investigating the deaths of two siblings who fell ill at their school in Katlehong.

The Gauteng Education Department says the brothers -- aged 7 and 10 -- died at a clinic on Tuesday.

A teacher rushed them to the clinic after they complained of stomach cramps and started vomiting.

The department says a five-year-old sibling found at their home is being treated for similar symptoms.

Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the investigation will verify statements from the parents and school.
