JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating a Bryanston High School employee for sexual misconduct.
The perpetrator has been suspended following an internal investigation.
The exact details of the abuse are yet to be revealed.
According to a statement, the affected pupils are receiving counselling.
Learners are being encouraged to speak out through the school's online anonymous reporting tool.
Gauteng Department of Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi commended the school's SGB for the swiftness with which they addressed the matter.
"They appointed an independent legal firm to investigate the matter and interview the victims and thereafter they filed a very impressive report to the SGB," the MEC said.
Lesufi stated the SGBs have been empowered to deal with cases together with the department and law enforcement.
