Quarry Drownings: Independent investigator appointed

MAMELODI - Advocate Thomas Bokaba will lead an independent investigation into the drowning of 2 boys in Mamelodi last week.

7-year-old Siyabonga Mabila and 4-year old Lawrence Tshwenu drowned in an unsecured quarry at a road construction site last Saturday.

Bokaba was appointed by the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport.

Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo says even though the probe has been commissioned by the department, it will be completely independent of the Department.

The two boys were laid to rest on Saturday.
