JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has deployed more than 70,000 extra SANDF members in the fight against COVID-19.

He's written to Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Defence.

Ramaphosa said an additional 73,180 members of the Regular, Reserve and Auxiliary forces will be deployed.

The cost of the deployment is expected to be around R4,5-billion and is due to end on 26 June.
