Ramaphosa signs political party funding bill into law

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed the Political Party Funding Bill into law.

The bill was passed by Parliament and was sent to the President to sign in June last year.

In the same month, the Constitutional Court ruled that voters have the right to know who is bankrolling political parties.

But, the IEC will only be able to affect the law in April, a month before elections.

And the information which parties must disclose on a quarterly basis will only be available once voters have already cast their votes.
