Rand slips against the dollar

JOHANNESBURG - The rand continues to fall against the US dollar, losing 20 cents since Thursday morning.

With the oil price also slowly gaining, this could place upward pressure on prices, particularly fuel.

The rand took a heavy hit earlier in the week when JP Morgan recommended to investors that the rand should be sold saying, key terms of trade were starting to look less favourable.

Analysts say the rand's volatility has become a headache for exporters and importers.
