Rand Water shutdown update

JOHANNESBURG – Rand Water says that the network is operational, stable and that all reservoirs are meeting demand amid a 54-hour water shutdown which began on Monday morning.

Rand Water is installing a new valve as part of a R600-million upgrade and has promised residents they won't be running out of water.

The water utility says work on the B11 Pipeline Shutdown is progressing as per schedule.

It further stated that the technical teams worked throughout the night and achieved the set project milestones.

“We have received no reports from our municipal customers of interruptions to the service due to the work being done with the Shutdown,” Rand Water said in a statement.

“The Rand Water ‘War Room’ that has been established to oversee the Shutdown is continuously monitoring the network. Rand Water requests consumers to continue using water sparingly.”
