JOHANNESBURG - We were only doing our job in Alexandra.
That's according to Security and Evictions Services unit, the Red Ants.
The unit says it was appointed by the City of Johannesburg following a September 2016 court order.
The unit demolished about 80 illegal shacks in the township last week.
Officials say it was a joint operation with the SAPS and the JMPD.
The unit has further denied claims that the Red Ants have been blacklisted from operating in the City of Johannesburg.
