TSHWANE - Religious leaders in Tshwane called for peace in the capital city on Monday.

They held a prayer meeting to seek wisdom for those who hold political power.

The meeting comes as a leadership battle continues to rage in the city's council, with both the ANC and the EFF seeking to remove the DA-led administration from power.

Reverend Thembelani Jentile from the Baptist Convention of South Africa said the leaders will be guiding their congregants and therefore must be taken seriously.

"People can't take it any more but it gets worse when the leader seem to be not caring," said Jentile.

He said that while the people are praying now, they could easily turn to protest.
