President Cyril Ramaphosa has called an urgent cabinet meeting on Sunday to discuss the outbreak.

The minister says he is concerned about the rising number of cases.

"The rapid rise in the numbers is a matter of concern that requires cabinet to sit down and look at it," Mkhize said.

"So the president has called for a report to be tabled which indicates the trends and challenges that we can see and therefore come with proposals."
