JOHANNESBURG - Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says South Africa is now approaching the COVID-19 peak.
Mkhize is urging people to continue following precautionary measures.
The country has recorded 224,665 COVID-19 cases with 3,600 deaths and 106,842 recoveries.
Mkhize further stated that Gauteng is expected to be the next COVID-19 epicentre in South Africa.
As of Tuesday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gauteng is 75,015, with 19,799 recoveries and 478 deaths.
Mkhize paid tribute to health workers who are on the frontline of fighting the coronavirus.

The minister says their contribution is appreciated and that interventions have been put in place to address infections among health care workers.
