WATCH: SA football giants, ministers address COVID-19 briefing

Earlier this afternoon, the Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, along with the chairmen of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, donated masks and gloves to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases. The Minister, accompanied by Kaizer Motaung and Irvin Khoza, have made their way to Multichoice offices, where they will provide further details.

JOHANNESBURG - Government and the football fraternity will host a joint media briefing on COVID-19 at the Multichoice headquarters. 

Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa, chairmen of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates and the Multichoice leadership will make an announcement at the news conference.

Mthethwa, Kaizer Motaung and Irvin Khoza visited the offices of the National Institute for Communicable Diseases on Thursday afternoon.

They donated masks and gloves to help fight the coronavirus.

The number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 2,415.

There have been no new deaths reported.

The number of coronavirus tests concluded to date is 87,022.
