JOHANNESBURG - The latest COVID-19 numbers have been released by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases.
It said 1,461 new cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours.

Gauteng continues to lead in infections with 642 cases.
That’s followed by the Western Cape with 362 new infections and KwaZulu-Natal at 275 cases.

The other provinces recorded under a hundred cases.
One person has died due to COVID-19 related complications in the past 24 to 48 hours.
The positivity rate stands at 5.2 percent.
