JOHANNESBURG - Forty-three more people have died from the coronavirus in the country, taking the death toll to 524.

The health department has announced 649 new cases on Tuesday night.

The total number of positive cases now stands at 24,264.

Almost 606,000 tests have been conducted to date.

Recoveries stand at 12,741.

The Western Cape still has the highest number of positive cases with 15,829 cases followed by Gauteng with 3,043 cases and the Eastern Cape with 2,864 cases.
