SAHRC launches inquiry into Alex protests

The South African Human Rights Commission is launching an inquiry into the recent protests in Alexandra.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Human Rights Commission is launching an inquiry into the recent protests in Alexandra on Thursday.

The inquiry will form part of a joint investigation between the commission and the Public Protector.

They're looking into the service delivery issues that are contributing to the increase in protests across the country.

Chairperson for the inquiry Buang Jones explained the commission is permitted to require any person to appear before them and produce relevant documents regarding pertinent issues.

Johannesburg City Manager Ndivhoniswani Lukhwareni will be the first to testify at the inquiry.
