JOHANNESBURG - An elderly South African couple stranded in Morocco is desperate to get back into the country.

The couple is stuck and concerned they will not be able to access essentials like their chronic medication.

The couple is one of many South Africans asking for the government to intervene.

International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor said about 1,471 South Africans are trying to get home from other countries following mass border closures and upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
