With civil society groups marching on Johannesburg's economic hub, roads in and around Sandton have been blocked off.
JOHANNESBURG - With civil society groups marching on Johannesburg's economic hub, some roads in the Sandton CBD have been blocked off.
JMPD Spokesman Wayne Minnaar says Maud street is blocked off between Rivonia road and West street.
Gwen lane has also been blocked off between Fredman drive and Maud street.
Despite the roads being blocked off, Minnaar said the traffic was flowing freely at around 7am and they have the situation under control.
"For us it's all about ensuring the safety of the people working here and then also so that the protesters are safe," said Minnaar.
Civil society groups have joined forces to condemn gender-based violence, amidst a wave of ongoing violence against women in South Africa.
