JOHANNESBURG - Members of the SAPS Joint Operational Committee in Tshwane are self-isolating after one member tested positive for COVID-19.

Police spokesperson Vishnu Naidoo says members of the committee are in isolation till 13 May.

Police Minister Bheki Cele says the rising numbers of officers infected by the coronavirus is concerning.

About 253 police officers tested positive for COVID-19 nationwide.

Western Cape accounts for a hundred and 78, while 75 are from the other eight provinces.
