Pupils to continue wearing masks in classrooms

JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Health has backtracked on the face mask mandate in schools.

It now says children in schools must continue complying with wearing face masks in classrooms and indoor gatherings.

It is still compulsory to wear a mask in enclosed indoor spaces.

The department has extended the public consultation period for health regulation amendments until 5 July.
