JOHANNESBURG - During his address, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the National Coronavirus Command Council is in discussions about schools reopening amid the increase in COVID-19 cases.

Ahead of the reopening of schools, unions have stressed that health and safety should be of paramount importance with COVID-19 cases increasing at an alarming rate.

Unions also say the Basic Education Department must use scientific information at their disposal.
