JOHANNESBURG - Former Cope Leader, Mbhazima Shilowa, is calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to take charge and lead.
Ramaphosa has been under pressure following the CR17 email leaks and the Bosasa saga.
The future of state-owned enterprises like Eskom, SAA and Denel is not certain while the economy of the country declining.
Shilowa says he's concerned Ramaphosa has been distracted by internal politics of the ANC.
The former trade unionist also said Ramaphosa needs to focus more on improving economic policies.
“I really feel that it's important that the President realises that the biggest task he faces is not just to ensure that our institutions such as Sars, NPA and others work, those are very important but that's not an area he's going to get involved.”
“But economic policy, fiscal policy, social policy...resides in his own area and is an area in which I think, to date, it does not seem that there's urgency in that direction,” said Shilowa.
