Social development to jab 240,000 officials

JOHANNESBURG - Government will now start vaccinating more civil servants to try pick up the pace of the rollout.

This includes Early Childhood Development staff.

The goal was to reach 250,000 jabs in the country per day last week.

But due to the unrest and looting, those plans were scuppered.

The acting Health Minister says as more vaccines become available, more sectors will be vaccinated.

“This time we would have at least reached 250,000 jabs per day, but with the riots we were affected," said minister Mmamoloko Kubayi.

"We are expecting to pick up back pace this week, especially with the help of social development programme and the launch of the correctional service programme.”
