Soweto residents fed up with power cuts

JOHANNESBURG - Soweto residents have held a mass rally on Sunday to challenge what they call Eskom’s unfair treatment of township residents.

The cash-strapped power utility says Soweto owes about R18-billion and it has since disconnected some areas in the township.

Soweto residents, young and old, are fed up with Eskom electricity cuts and they are not alone.

The whole country has been hit by rolling power cuts every week since January but Soweto's issues are deep-seated.
