JOHANNESBURG - The family of the now-acquitted former Soweto scholar patroller Johannes Molefe have welcomed Wednesday's court ruling.

The family says they are happy the issue has been put to rest after they've been subjected to insults by community members.

Molefe was accused of raping and sexually assaulting girls aged between 5 and 13.

Mittah Buthelezi, Molefe's sister, said people were saying horrible things about her brother.

"They would insult me and say all kinds of stuff, but I just told myself that only God knows.

"I hoped he would be found innocent because I know him, I live with him, he is my brother."
