Soweto taxi routes shut down despite 'deal' between operators

Earlier this week, Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi announced he was shutting down six major taxi routes and ranks for the next three months.

JOHANNESBURG - A late night agreement has been reached between rival taxi associations in Soweto. 

Operations are still being shut down, despite the deal.

Earlier this week, Gauteng Transport MEC Ismail Vadi announced he was shutting down six major taxi routes and ranks for the next three months.

That's because of violence that's left three people dead and injured six others.

Now, it seems news of the agreement has not yet trickled down to police in the area.
