SOWETO - Soweto commuters are facing major transport challenges, waiting in long queues for taxis while the transport MEC Ismail Vadi considers shutting down some taxi routes over taxi violence in the area.

Sipho Nkwanyana, from the Alliance for the Transformation for All said the MEC must halt the closures and negotiate with the associations.

Associations have been in court battling for a decision on who rightfully can operate on the routes.

Nkwanyana denounced the violence being enacted on their members and the public.
